The Habbo Console

About

What is the Habbo console?

The Habbo Console is a way of communicating with friends without having to be in the same Hotel room as them!

Can anyone send me messages?

Habbos can only send you messages if you've accepted their Friend Request and allowed them to have you on their friend list and vice versa.

History of the console

Console 1

A long time ago you used to be able to send text messages - right from your console! You'd buy the text messages (2 credits per message) and you could send them to Habbos without having to know their number. You could also send emails to friends without revealing each others actual email addresses. The idea itself was good but Habbo probably had lots of complaints and chose to remove it for privacy reasons. Of course you could only text message users if they had given their number to Habbo (it was optional.)

As you can see, the original icon design had a bigger shadow and it the middle bit is slightly different from today. And the outside buttons were different too.

Console 2

Go to same room
If you have a friend on your Friend list you can go to the same room as them, at the touch of a button. You just select 'Friends' to view your friends list and then go to the online user you want to talk to and click 'Go to same room', unless they're on the hotel view...

How do I know when I get a new message?
The console flashes and bounces up and down! If you have a new friend request the console lights up and bounces up and down. The 'bouncing' was introduced in Release 19 of Habbo.

Visit their home
To visit a users home just click the Home icon next to their name.

Find a friend
You can search the entire hotel for a certain Habbo just by clicking 'Find'. You can then see if they're online or not and then request to be they're friend.

Deleting friends and sending messages
To remove friends, all you have to do is go down your list, clicking the ones you want to remove and then just click 'remove'. The same goes to Composing a message to a list of Habbos.

Console 3

This update came with the current layout of Habbo, with lots of "off-client" features. This meant to send messages to each other (as well as change clothes, motto etc), you'd be sent to the off-client page to do so. Many disliked this, but the feature to change clothes and motto within the hotel has never been brought back.

The console was also given a complete revamp including a new icon, which, again, many disliked. Though with the new update you could categorise your friends (and you still can, but again, off-client). The console could also be minimised.

Habbo Chat
This was introduced at the same time as console 3, to make up for the removal of in-client messaging. This meant, you could message each other offline (off-client), and if you needed to speak to someone within the game, whilst playing, you'd use Habbo chat.

Friend requests
Accept all and decline all buttons were added due to popular request, which is a neat feature which you just can't complain about.

Invite friends
An 'invite friends' feature was added, allowing you to select a list of friends and then be able to 'invite' them to something. The invite would come up on Habbo chat in a green box. A slightly pointless feature, maybe. But a neat way of mass-chatting.

Note the grammatical mistake, "1 people", hehe.
